The South Okanagan Winery Association is hosting the first annual ½ Corked Marathon Sunday, May 30, 2010!
Whether you walk, run or jog, this race is for the fun at heart and
promotes a healthy, balanced lifestyle in one of Canada's most
beautiful wine growing regions. The 17 km course will lead you along
two acclaimed benches, winding through the Golden Mile and across the
valley to the Black Sage Bench. Rolling hills and beautiful vineyards
will be the surrounding scenery as you sample the wines of the South
Okanagan at wineries along the route.
Inspired by the world-famous Marathon du Médoc in Bordeaux, France,
our race is shorter, but every bit as fun. We hope you will dress up for the race, which will feature a parade of costumes before more
serious business gets underway. Prizes will be awarded to runners with
the most creative costumes at an awards lunch after the finish line.

We understand the importance of good nutrition before a race, so it
is only fitting that we host a pre-marathon gourmet pasta carbo-load to
help you prepare. Runners and their supporters can enjoy great wines
and fine, carb-rich cuisine the evening before the race.

Modeled after Burgundy’s
famed Banée de Meursault, a wine industry celebration that marks the end of
pruning and the beginning of a new season, this night will feature exquisite
food and wine from all over the South Okanagan and will surely create a lasting
tasting memory. Originally a small gathering of South Okanagan winery owners
and winemakers enjoying a wine-focused, no-frills forum to taste local and
international wines, exchange ideas and share meals, the Banée has grown and
word has spread but the concept remains the same - this event is a rare
opportunity to get to know the wines, wineries and personalities behind the
South Okanagan's success.
Experience the best of the South Okanagan Winery Association by
participating in this premiere event. Be part of the local wine
industry for the night by mingling with the local Winemakers. A live
auction of some of the best experiences and items in the South Okanagan
follows the dinner.

The event was hosted at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts http://www.picachef.com/ Participating restaurants were Cru, Le Gavroche, Lolitas Restaurant, Me and Julio, Odouls Restaurant, Senova Restaurant, Salmon House, Social at Le Magasin, Vista Doro Farms, Terra Breads and Gone Crackers
